Igraine
Igraine of Tintagel was the beautiful wife of (eventually) two men. Her first husband, Gorlois, was the father of three of her four children : Morgana La Fay, Morgause, and Elaine. Igraine grew up in a stable and loving home, so her childhood was pleasant.
When Igraine grew up, she first married Gorlois, and they were very happy together. However, when he took Igraine to a party to show her off, another king who was at the time allied with Gorlois lusted after her. This king was Uther Pendragon. The alliance between the two kings was broken soon afterwards.
Gorlois eventually died and Igraine was then a widow. Uther wasn't going to pass the opportunity up. While Igraine was still mourning over Gorlois' death, she and Uther had a child by the name of Arthur. However, since Igraine was supposed to still be mourning Gorlois, the two weren't supposed to be having children together. This caused Uther to have to send Arthur away to live with someone else. Igraine was devastated. No mother wants to go through giving her child away to a stranger. In the tales of King Arthur, Igraine was a very important part, seeing as she brought the magnificent king into existence.
