Uther
Uther was a great king, who made some not so great choices. He ruled Camelot, but wanted more than that. The moment he laid eyes Gorlois' wife, he had to have her. The once peaceful relationship between Uther and Gorlois was ended as soon as Uther began to lust after Igraine.
Uther was a man who hated anything that didn't help him. So, before Igraine, he hated magic, and wanted nothing to do with it. However, once he learned that it could help him to get Igraine, he jumped at the chance. He used the wizard Merlin to disguise him as Gorlois, and then proceeded to sleep with Igraine. This then conceived Arthur, and caused terrible havoc in Camelot.
Throughout the tales of King Arthur, Uther played an important role, mostly because without him, Arthur himself wouldn't been alive.
